Wow, this one was really powerful. Thank you for educating me on Pamela Colman Smith. And this line: "As I write this, four men and a woman who has forgotten who she is have just handed down legislature that seeks to write a final chapter for women who seek to dictate their own paths. They wish for us to fade into obscurity, faceless bodies without hopes, without dreams, and without magic." - wow, gave me goosebumps. You absolutely nailed it. I've been trying to think of how to describe Justice Amy Coney Barrett, but this right here is it - she has forgotten who she is (besides being involved in an extreme part of Catholicism. I really needed to read this as I have been beyond upset at what is happening (to say the least) and Colman Smith is so inspiring. Well done!!

Thanks for reading, Erin. I know hearing the stories of women who resisted doesn't magically fix our current situation, but their voices inspire me to keep fighting. <3

Thank you for this and for breathing life into Pamela's life for me. I really did not know so much of this and am inspired even much more so now -- to be me, to stand up for what I believe, and for all of us women to stand together because we are strong and we know what's best.

Thank you for reading! She is truly fascinating. I found that the biography that I linked below was a very thorough look into her life--it includes full color prints of many of her art pieces. I hope that we do organize and stand together to advocate for our rights and for the rights of any marginalized group.

"The greatest danger we face as women is forgetting who we are. Forgetting our magic, our creativity, and how we can resist by living in ways that counter patriarchal norms." Yes. YES. I can't believe I didn't know the details about her magazine (and rejecting conventions and advice around launching it)... so relatable, so inspirational given where I'm at in life. Thank you for bringing this into my awareness! I need to get my hands on a copy of The Green Sheaf.

Yes! So much of her life reminded me of the work you're doing with the Rebis. I hope you also reject "traditional" advice and make something that's all your own + is a space where other folks can have their voices heard. I have a good feeling that that is exactly what you're going to do.

It's going really well - thank you for asking! You can subscribe for updates on Substack (therebis.substack.com) and follow us on Instagram: @the__rebis - I have nearly all of the editorial content complete, I'm working with a few artists on commissioned pieces and kicking off the print layout process next week with our production partner (who also happens to be a spiritual artist!). Building community is extremely fulfilling work but it's a lot of screen time, time on social media, etc, which can be draining so I'm trying to create boundaries and bake in time in nature and play. Trying to figure out how to feel expansive joy while so often being plagued with dread about the world we're living in. This part of the process - of trying to sit with awe while also being called toward activism - is the real work, I think.

I'm so happy you're doing this and making such great progress! This is beyond exciting and I'm sure you're really proud of yourself as well. This is really such an amazing thing that you are doing and I can't wait to see it and read more.

I hear you on all of this and thank you for posting that link, too. I feel like so many of us are coming together in this really beautiful way during these exasperating times. The more art, creativity, and soul work we have, the better I feel and the more hopeful and connected things seem. Thank you for what you and Katie are doing!
